Poem of the Week Cheese Charles Levenstein Even in this late afternoon sun finches chatter. Light breezes move the soft air, shadows of branches and leaves dart on the shingles. Only birdsong pierces the quiet. I have done nothing in particular to warrant such ease. Each step has been impulsive, a grasshopper's leap. Perhaps insects have a strategic plan; I hopped, perch to perch, by chance. Not a cat, nor a stone, more like a piece of cheese, land on any side, still okay to eat.
